Durable Mecco began as Durable Engravers and was formed in 1952 in Chicago, Illinois primarily as a manufacturer of steel stamps and brass and steel coding type. The Company has broadened its scope and manufacturing expertise by investing in employees, equipment, and numerous acquisitions such as Quality Die Company of Chicago, Illinois and Fredricks Marking Products also of Chicago, Illinois. In 2006, Durable Engravers acquired the former Mecco / M.E. Cunningham Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a leader in indent marking for heavy industrial applications. The newly formed Durable Mecco combines the breadth of manufacturing capabilities and technical expertise of Durable Engravers with the specific product and application expertise of Mecco / M.E. Cunningham Company. Together, a powerhouse has emerged in the marking and identification field.
Durable Mecco’s product offering includes a full range of marking and identification products – steel stamps and dies, numbering heads, impact presses, custom engraving, inspection stamps, stencils, inks, hot stamping type and dies, printers’ type, branding irons, I.D. tags and nameplates, write-on and automated markers, facility I.D. signs, etc. We serve a wide cross-section of industries. Additionally, we also specialize in date coding supplies and marking machines for the packaging industry.
Our multi-plant manufacturing locations in the East and Midwest provide for workload leveling and catastrophic backup in order to ensure uninterrupted, consistent service to customers.
